2024 All Star King & Queens Championship

2024 All Star King & Queens Championship

From 1st to 2nd - a win that was so close but too far. Finally, after a 6 months hiatus it was good to be back on the track. With college applications all done, I felt at home like a fish back in water. The race day started with me qualifying second, got stuck behind my friend Ridgley in the first heat, but managed to win the second heat and final race. Colby and I tied for points. Rules stated that whoever has the least points in the end wins and if tied pole position would define the final winner.
The day started off with me qualifying 2nd, we were fastest all day Saturday while testing, we made a call to switch our wheels given it was going to be cold the next morning. But I guess with my tall stature, some of the typical karting rules don't apply (that has been a challenge all my karting career, I used to feel like a Super Mario in Cadet karts as a kid, had to move up too early because of my height). I ended up behind my buddy Colby by 3/10th of a second, an eternity in karting. Points - Colby 1, Me 2
The first race (Reverse GP) - didn't start off well for me, I got stuck behind Ridgley and ended up fighting with him for 3 laps before I finally passed him. Despite being the fastest, Colby had too much of lead for me to cover. I finished 2nd. Points - Colby 2, Me 4
The second race (Roval) - that was a good start and I was on Colby's tail form the beginning. Finally on lap 14 I passed him and got home winning the Roval race. I went purple by 1/10 of a second. Points - Colby 4, Me 5
The final race (GP) - Colby got me on the start, On lap 8 I passed him and got home winning the Main Grand Prix. It became interesting in the end, with Colby a mere half a second behind me and Ridgley just a tenth behind him. Points - Colby 6, Me 6
I was surprise that my name was called as winner of the race (some calculation errors), I got the kings crown, was kinda unfair to Colby but he won the 2065 so he did get the crown too. But that got corrected the next day. I was 2nd and Colby walked away with Double Kind winning KA100 and 206 classes. Congrats to Colby but I had a blast after 6 months being away. Thank you Ben Calvo for coaching and tuning the kart to make it the fastest on the track.
